I am waiting for a bus. Or at least, I'm supposed to be. A quick glance at my watch's calendar confirms that, yes, indeed, I'm supposed to be waiting for a bus right about now. And so, I wait.
Beside me, I can hear a groaning. I'm not sure what the problem is, but years of riding public transportation has taught me to become immune to outside sources of information. I stare, straight ahead, waiting on the bus. And still the groaning continues, but it matters not.
For I am waiting on the bus. Around me, the light is starting to grow dim; a flicker and explosion of light, and the street lights come on, just as they always do. And, jus

As part of my effort to get out of my writer's block, I have found a site that offers daily creative writing prompts. So, expect a lot more (hopefully) short stories from me as I start hammering out stuff daily from these prompts.
My prompt today was:
Every morning at 9:00 a.m. sharp, you get a call on your cell phone. The speaker says “I know what you did” and then hangs up. This has been going on for two weeks straight. What did you do and how do you react to these calls?
And here is my story, titled simply "3:00 A.M."

It was three in the morning when my cellphone rang. Through eyes bleary with sleep, I peered throug
There are three things in life that will always make life living. Sunrises, sunsets, and clouds. Nothing beats watching the sun rise, and watching it touch each cloud, one by one, setting each on fire with an orange glow to welcome the morning
There is one thing I miss about Hawaii from my time in the military and no, I don't mean the bikini babes, the glorious weather, and the tropical paradise that surrounded me. Those things were great, yes, especially for an early-twenties single male but none of that sticks out in my mind quite as much as a rock.
Yes, a rock. There was this small remote beach just off from the firi

Trying to break out of my writer's block by forcing myself to write. The Herscher Project's got a ton of projects available, so I figured, eh... those should do nicely. :)
Over the next 24 hours, I'm going to try to do a short story for each available, open project. Two of em are already up and on here... 4 more remain, and I'm only 2 hours and 35 min into my 24 hours.
... this is a good sign. :)

Nanowrimo was a bust. :) But I did get writing at least a LITTLE bit, so I'm chip chip chipping away at that damnable writer's block. Of course, I'm carving a statue out of a piece of stone the size of the Empire State Building, but still... progress is progress, right?
